Congratulations! Indeed you have probably seen a Bald Eagle. They are usually back in
Florida from the middle to late August, and will then spend the winter. During February
they mate and raise their new families. Late spring they migrate back north. We have
already seen a Bald Eagle at the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.
What we try to do when we seen them is to match their white head and black body with
white tail feathers. When you see this combination, you can be very sure that you have
identified a Bald Eagle.
Thanks for visiting our web site.

I Live in Candler, FL, pretty much in-between Ocala and lake weir...My Son
and I were sitting on our front porch, and we saw what we believe was a
Bald Eagle. We have tons of hawks in our area and that's what we thought it
was at first. But as it got closer we saw that it was a lot bigger than the
Hawks that fly around here, and it also had a definite white head. Is this
possible? Has there been other sightings in our area. we are very excited
about this and hope to hear from you soon.
